Scoring/Ranking

Every hot sauce will be evaluated on the following criteria, each carrying a scale of one to seven.  Seven being the highest, or most extreme ranking.

1. Heat
A score of 7 would be hellfire.
A score of 1 is equivalent to something mild, like say, breast milk.

2. Flavor
A score of 7 would denote good flavor heat/balance.
A score of 1 would indicate no or bad flavor.

3. Experience
A score of 7 would indicate this sauce enhanced the food/tasting in a profoundly positive way.
A score of 1 means I'm probably scraping off the offending sauce into the trash.

For the sake of consistency, most hot sauces will be reviewed on a tortilla chip, to get a sense of the sauce.  If you're into some wine and food pairing thing... uhhhhh...

So, that means there is a maximum possible score of 21 points.  Numbers one and two have to be in a good balance to make a sauce work, and number three is totally dependent on my mood, which admittedly varies greatly.  The higher the points, the better the sauce in my opinion.

Again, if you're one of those guys that reads reviews on beeradvocate.com or something, you may want to find a different blog.
